Vanderbilt Hillel and ‘Dores for Israel Speaker Event to Discuss Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

David Makovsky and Ghaith al-Omari to discuss peace, and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict at Vanderbilt Hillel.

Vanderbilt Hillel will be sponsoring a speaker event in partnership with the Israel advocacy student organization, ‘Dores for Israel, on Monday, February 13th at 7:30 p.m. at the Vanderbilt Hillel building. David Makovsky and Ghaith al-Omari will be speaking on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict and Peace Process. This event is open to the community.

David Makovsky is the Ziegler distinguished fellow at The Washington Institute and director of the Koret Project on Arab-Israel Relations. He is also an adjunct professor in Middle East studies at Johns Hopkins University's Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). In 2013-2014, he worked in the Office of the U.S. Secretary of State, serving as a senior advisor to the Special Envoy for Israeli-Palestinian Negotiations. David is the host of the Decision Points podcast, now in its fourth season, which covers a wide array of Israel-related subjects.

Ghaith al-Omari, a senior fellow in The Washington Institute's Irwin Levy Family Program on the U.S.-Israel Strategic Relationship, is the former executive director of the American Task Force on Palestine. He served as advisor to the negotiating team during the 1999–2001 permanent-status talks in addition to holding variousother positions within the Palestinian Authority.
